Local 76 OHHU Strengthening Heavy Hauling Across Ontario
Regional Focus & Industry Improvements
Local 76 Heavy Haulers is dedicated to advancing the trucking industry across Ontario, ensuring fair wages, improved working conditions, and better safety standards for drivers. 400-Series Highway Corridors
The 400-series highways serve as Ontario’s main freight arteries, connecting major economic hubs. We focus on improving conditions for truckers hauling construction materials, steel, industrial equipment, and bulk products along these routes by:
- Enhancing rest and recovery policies to prevent driver fatigue.
- Fighting for fair fuel surcharges and competitive pay to reflect rising operational costs.
- Improving apprenticeship programs to bring in skilled drivers and mechanics. How Our Union Offices Are Improving Ontario’s Heavy Hauling Industry
- Bargaining Stronger Agreements – We negotiate with multinational and Canadian companies to secure better wages, benefits, and job security.
- Advocating for Safety & Compliance – Ensuring that trucking companies invest in vehicle maintenance and safety measures.
- Investing in Training & Apprenticeships – Building the next generation of skilled heavy haulers through certification programs.
- Pushing for Policy Reforms – Working with government agencies to update regulations that impact Ontario’s trucking industry.
